This is the website for a network of scholars and translators, and for the wider public, interested in the work and reception of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf.
The website is hosted by the Scandinavian Studies Section of the Department of European Languages and Cultures at the University of Edinburgh. The Department of European Languages and Cultures belongs to Edinburgh University’s School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures. The website is initiated and edited by Dr Bjarne Thorup Thomsen (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Building on the success of the international conference ‘Selma Lagerlöf 2011: Text, Translation, Film’, arranged at University College London, and the publication of a volume of new scholarship entitled Re-Mapping Lagerlöf: Performance, Intermediality and European Transmissions, eds. Helena Forsås-Scott, Lisbeth Stenberg and Bjarne Thorup Thomsen (Lund: Nordic Academic Press, 2014), a global series of Re-Mapping Lagerlöf symposia will contribute to further strengthening the Selma Lagerlöf Network. Three symposia, sponsored by the Swedish Foundation for Humanities and Social Sciences, will take place in the following world cities:
- Tokyo: Josai University, 20 November 2015
- Moscow: Russian State University for the Humanities, 3-4 March 2016
- Berlin: Humboldt University, 30 September-1 October 2016
The coordinator of the Re-Mapping Lagerlöf symposia series is Dr Lisbeth Stenberg (email@example.com).
